Governor’s Office Invites State Employees to Submit Efficiency Suggestions

The Wyoming Governor’s Office is inviting state employees to participate in an ideas festival with the goal of implementing efficiencies, cutting programs that are more costly than beneficial, and generating additional revenue.

Theodore Roosevelt said, “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly… to do the deeds.”

 

Given our current economic environment, we have an opportunity to reimagine how we can best serve the people of our great state. The demand for government services, coupled with a fiscal crisis, puts an ever-increasing strain on the scarce resources available to the public sector.

 

In the face of a global pandemic and large budget deficits we need to hear from you now more than ever. We invite employees from all three branches of government to give us ideas on how we might implement efficiencies, cut programs that are more costly than beneficial, generate revenue, and generally serve our constituents better.

 

It’s time for each of us to step into the arena.

 

As part of the efficiency study, Enrolled Act No70 Section 1 (k) allows the Governor’s Office to create and fund an annual Ideas Festival. The Festival is to incentivize employees from the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government to identify and implement initiatives for revenue generation, savings, and efficiencies. The Governor’s Office has partnered with Elevate Wyoming to create an all-employee survey for our 2020 Ideas Festival. The Ideas Festival Survey will enable us to collect innovative ideas from each and every team member within each branch of government.

 

Employees providing ideas implemented from the 2020 Ideas Festival can receive up to $25,000, but not more than $5,000 per team member. The amount awarded will be based on a percentage of the savings generated. The reward shall be limited to 5% of the first year’s estimated savings or five thousand dollars, whichever is less.
